Restricted Airflow

Not only does the air conditioner fan move the air through the unit and on to the ducts, it also removes heat from the refrigerant.

If the ducts are clogged with dirt, pet hair, or dust, very little cool air will pass through the registers and into the room.

The fan will still work, but the air intake decreases, meaning that very little airflow passes over and through the evaporator coils.

After a time, the coils will begin to lose temperature rapidly. Condensation that forms will quickly freeze. The coils will become coated with ice, further reducing the ability of the moving air to warm up the refrigerant. This problem requires immediate attention by one of our service personnel.

Dirty Filters

Changing filters regularly is necessary in order to maintain optimal airflow. If the filters get too dirty, the coils will not be able to transfer heat away from the refrigerant.
